Julia Gershkoff

Julia Gershkoff is a soprano based in Salt Lake City. Recent stage credits include Micaëla in Carmen at Kingsbury Hall, Silence in the world premiere of The Romance of Silence by Anthony Buck with Opera Contempo, Water/A Rose in The Little Prince with Utah Opera, and Guido’s Mother in Nine with Hart Theater Company.

An active concert soloist, Julia has recently performed Mozart oratorios with the Salt Lake Choral Artists, Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 with the Utah Valley University Choir and Symphony, and a Sacred Minimalist concert with Westminster University. Additional highlights include Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, Handel’s Messiah with the Utah Symphony, Bach’s Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben with the Cathedral of the Madeleine, and Dowland’s The First Book of Songs or Ayres with the NOVA Chamber Music Series. 

From 2020 to 2022, Julia was the Soprano Resident Artist with Utah Opera, where she performed roles at the Capitol Theatre, including Berta in Il barbiere di Siviglia, Tina in Flight, and Kate in The Pirates of Penzance. Her educational training includes a master of music in vocal arts and opera from the University of Southern California and a bachelor of music in voca lperformance from Ithaca College. 

Upcoming performances for Julia include various roles in The Velveteen Rabbit with Opera Contempo on December 13th, Enrique Granados’s 12 Tonadillas with NOVA Chamber Music Series on March 8th (she learned Spanish for this performance!), and being the soprano soloist for Beethoven’s 9th with Utah Valley Symphony and Wasatch Choral on May 21st. Outside of singing, Julia loves her job as an organizational development lead at Odyssey House of Utah and enjoys unwinding with evening walks with her husband and dog.
