Bach Cantatas and recent works by Liang and Huýnh
Program
NOVA’s season finale features the NOVA debut of soprano Deanna Breiwick (who recently made her LA Opera debut) who solos in our celebrated continuation of Bach cantatas in Mein Herz schwimmt in Blut. This concert features new works by American composers Oswald Huýnh (featuring percussionist Eric Hopkins) and Liang’s Déjå Vu which intertwines “two solo lines… meant to evoke the different ways people interact and how several meetings between the same individuals can take on new meanings…one may experience similar recollections even when meeting someone for the first time.” This dialogue is on captivating display in Bach’s epic Concerto for Two Violins, performed by violin virtuosos Will Hagen and Laura Ha.
