Zachary Hammond, oboe

Zachary Hammond joined the Utah Symphony as principal oboe in 2022. He also currently holds the position of English horn and assistant principal oboe with the Colorado Music Festival in Boulder, Colorado. Prior to coming to Utah, Zac was principal oboe of the Charleston Symphony in South Carolina from 2014-2022 and has performed with leading orchestras across the country, including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Minnesota Orchestra, National Arts Centre Orchestra (CA), Rochester Philharmonic and Charlotte Symphony. Zac has been featured as a soloist many times throughout his career, including premiering a concerto written specifically for him by Yiorgos Vassilandonakis with the Charleston Symphony in 2019.

Originally from Naperville, Ilinois, Zac studied with Robert Morgan of the Lyric Opera of Chicago and then Richard Killmer at the Eastman School of Music. Zac served as faculty at the College of Charleston for several years and currently maintains a large studio of young oboists.
